Rob Baker Ashton

Rob Baker Ashton was born and bred in Chesterfield, Derbyshire and left the safety of the ‘shire to study Photography at Nottingham Trent University.

Once graduated with his degree, Rob set off around the world on an adventure with his camera, finally settling in London, where he began assisting the Iconic Fashion Photographer and Film Director Elaine Constantine, who has mentored him, and with whom he still enjoys a great working and personal relationship.

Rob’s work spans many genres of the Photographic medium, from Photojournalism to Fashion to Commercial, Advertising and Fine Art Photography, yet at the centre of his work there is always portraiture and human interaction, with a slice of fun and humour entwined, though he has a strong interest in conceptual art and attempts to implement that into his personal work.

He has shot the posters and publicity stills for many films, (of which can be found on his website and IMDB page) and worked with a host of well known public figures and celebrities, of whom he is able to make strong connections and gain the trust of, in order to take the strongest images of them in sometimes incredibly rushed and stressful situations.

His work has been published on billboards around the country and internationally, he has had the covers of Screen International and The Times 2 Arts, as well as being published in Vogue China, Empire and Total Film to name a few.

Rob has a strong interest in music and has worked with many musicians shooting publicity images and album art for a variety of artists.

Rob is also a skilled motion camera operator and D.O.P and he has shot music videos, commercials and campaigns for Underworld, Steve Madden, Vogue China, Hunter and Flair Italia.

He has just Directed his first music film, ANDINA, which is currently being submitted to film festivals around the world. This experience has left him hungry for more and is working on new projects constantly.
